The Unicode Conference is a non-profit organization that coordinates the development of Unicode. Full members include many major computer software and hardware companies that are interested in text processing standards, including Adobe, Apple, Google, IBM, Microsoft and Oracle Corporation.
Countries or government agencies have been members of the Unicode Convention for many years. Only the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (Oman) is currently a full member with the right to vote.
This forum aims to eventually replace existing font encoding schemes with Unicode and its standard Unicode Transformer Format (UFT) schemes, as most of the existing schemes are limited in size and scope and are incompatible with multilingual environments.

යුනිකෝඩ් සම්මේලනය යනු යුනිකෝඩ් හි සංවර්ධනය සම්බන්ධීකරණය කරන ලාභ නොලබන සංවිධානයකි. ඇඩෝබි, ඇපල්, ගූගල්, අයිබීඑම්, මයික්‍රොසොෆ්ට් සහ ඔරකල් කෝපරේෂන් ඇතුළු පෙළ සැකසුම් ප්‍රමිතීන් කෙරෙහි උනන්දුවක් දක්වන ප්‍රධාන පරිගණක මෘදුකාංග සහ දෘඩාංග සමාගම් බොහොමයක් පූර්ණ සාමාජිකයින්ට ඇතුළත් වේ.
වසර ගණනාවක් පුරා රටවල් හෝ රජයේ ආයතන යුනිකෝඩ් සම්මේලනයේ සාමාජිකයින් වී ඇත. ඡන්දය ප්‍රකාශ කිරීමේ අයිතිය ඇති පූර්ණ සාමාජිකයෙකු වන්නේ දැනට එන්ඩොව්මන්ට්ස් සහ ආගමික කටයුතු අමාත්‍යාංශය (ඕමානය) පමණි.
පවත්නා අක්‍ෂර කේතීකරණ යෝජනා ක්‍රම අවසානයේදී යුනිකෝඩ් සහ එහි සම්මත යුනිකෝඩ් ට්‍රාන්ස්ෆෝමර් ෆෝමැට් (UFT) යෝජනා ක්‍රම සමඟ ප්‍රතිස්ථාපනය කිරීමේ අභිලාෂිත ඉලක්කය මෙම සංසදයට ඇත, මන්ද දැනට පවතින බොහෝ යෝජනා ක්‍රම ප්‍රමාණයෙන් හා විෂය පථයෙන් සීමිත වන අතර බහුභාෂා පරිසරයන්ට නොගැලපේ.
